Geplante Partnerschaft mit Tansania
PROPOSAL FOR SCHOOL PARTNERSHIP
I write this letter on behalf of our school community to propose the idea that your school and ours should be partners or friends. The name of our school is Bukoba Hope Lutheran Secondary School (BHL). It is the school under the North-Western Diocese of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania, in Bukoba. I remember, you personally, about more than ten years now, once you visited one school in the diocese.
The major purpose of the partnership is to expose our students and teachers to the larger world. In this case, our students can be penfriends and exchange ideas. Our teachers can exchange knowledge and methods of teaching. It is very clear that our school, students and teachers, has to struggle to be modern like those of the western world. However, on the other hand, your modern school has a lot also to learn from ours. We believe, partnership can play a big role to change the mind-set of the young generation from both schools so that they can be capable to meet the challenges of the global village.
Bukoba Hope Lutheran Sec. School is a new school. It started this year 2017 in January. It is a mixed school of boys and girls now aged between 13 to 17. When these students reach their fourth year of studies, their age will be between 16 to 19 or 20. It is a boarding school. The school has now only one class of 23 students; 16 boys and 7 girls. We are 5 teachers and nonteaching staff.
The school is new but its campus is old. Initially, the campus had a teachers’ college which was also under the church. The diocese decided to change the college into the school because the government changed policies on teachers’ education qualifications and led the college miss students. Therefore, our school took over all the buildings and other facilities which were for the teachers’ college.
I have taken some photos so that you see our students and the staff as you discuss this proposal of friendship. I do hope that your students and the staff will receive the idea and give it a positive hand.
Yours in love and peace,
Rev. Jonathan M. Kyaruzi
